New Seasons, New Beginnings

As September brings the fall season, it also brings changes at SMPS Tampa Bay. Our 2020 Board of Directors has been inducted and is very excited to serve our members again this year with a full line-up of programming designed to maximize networking opportunities while also providing personal development and growth. A big warm thank you to our immediate Past President Jenni Nix-McGerald and her team (2019/2020 outgoing board) for an outstanding job during a very challenging pandemic year. As an organization we’ve had to pivot our programming to virtual events. Our plan is to continue with our virtual events until the end of the year and through the holidays. In addition to continuing our virtual SMPS Mornings and Happy Hours, we plan to hold several virtual program events in the next few months. We will be hosting a Private Development Panel on how local leaders are redefining their marketing strategy in October, followed by our first Healthcare & Bingo Networking event in November. A great way to end the year while also giving back will be our Virtual Charity Fundraiser in December, where we will have a silent auction benefiting a children’s charity.

Our calendar for the upcoming 2020-2021 year is full of events and activities for our members to continue their professional development, connect with colleagues, and enhance their knowledge! A full listing of our events can be found on our website Calendar of Events.

Our hopeful plan is that the new year will bring the opportunity to host a live event. We have planned a Membership Appreciation event aboard the Yacht Starship for January.  This is contingent upon CDC guidelines for safety. If all is well, we will also resume SMPS Mornings and Happy Hours in person. Two of our largest events of the year are also slated for 2021 – the Transportation Session in February and our annual Healthcare event in May. There are a lot of great events and sessions coming up! We hope you are continuing to thrive during this time and look forward to seeing you at many of these upcoming events. Whether in person or virtual, SMPS is still a great resource to Learn, Connect and Grow with your colleagues.
